The diploma thesis deals with the elaboration of a proposal for an investment recommendation to expand the investment portfolio of the industry-focused fund with shares of companies from the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. The theoretical part deals with collective investment, hedge funds and also contains methods of financial analysis. The practical part includes an initial selection of companies, which are then subjected to analysis, their mutual comparison and verification in terms of their potential bankruptcy. The proposal part deals with an investment recommendation for the expansion of the hedge fund.

5252 Abstract Collective investment and its legal regulation In the Czech Republic the collective investment has experienced a huge expansion in the last decade which was caused among others by renewing the trust in legal regulation which ensures the safety of investment to the investors. Because the topic is relatively difficult and undoubtedly interesting I chose it as a topic of my diploma thesis. This paper is divided into chapters and subchapters containing particular topics regarding the collective investment legislation but to maintain the overall logical structure of the issue. Before starting to write the diploma thesis I discussed the biggest problems of a practical application of the collective investment legal regulation with practising lawyers as this view from the academic preparation was missing. I found out from this short survey the most common problems connected with the collective investment legal regulation which I discussed in this diploma thesis. These include in particular the definition of public offering under the Collective Investment Act, the possibility to offer the services of closed-end foreign funds in the Czech Republic and the recently introduced legislation regarding standard and alternative funds. Proposal to Expand the Investment Portfolio of the Hedge fund of Funds

This bachelor’s thesis is focused on selection of titles for expansion of investment hedge fund of funds. The theoretical part describes mutual investing, hedge funds and mutual funds. In the second part of the thesis the concrete hedge fund of funds has been described. It also includes the requirements of its management for expanding the portfolio. The third part contains of the primary selection of titles for portfolio expansion. These titles were analyzed and compared in the following part. In the last section of the thesis the recommendations for expanding the portfolio of the hedge fund of funds have been made, based on the results of analysis and comparation of the titles.
Proposal for Addition of a Hedge Fund Investment Portfolio

The master's thesis focuses on the development of a proposal to expand the investment portfolio of a hedge fund according to management requirements. The knowledge gained in the theoretical part is applied in the analytical part. First, the properties of the fund and the requirements of its management to expand their portfolio are defined. The selected companies are subjected to a financial analysis, the intrinsic value of their shares is determined. The results are compared with each other. The bankruptcy model is used to assess the riskiness of companies. Based on the analyzed results, a recommendation for expanding the hedge fund's investment portfolio is drawn up.

This thesis is focused on issue of Shadow banking and Hedge funds. The first chapters of this thesis are dedicated to analysis of this topic from the perspective of different definitions, entities, instruments, activities or problematic aspects. It may give an own notion to the reader about this topic. Size estimation of Shadow banking in the Czech Republic is done in further chapters of this thesis. According to available sources this estimation has not been done yet by anyone. In connection with Hedge funds is tested a strategy that is considered as one of the most used in this sphere.
